Servien's third escape ends
FULTON, Mo. -- Having twice escaped from the insane asylum at Farmington, following which he was removed to the asylum here, Emile Servien gave the guards a warm chase and fight between 4 and 5 o'clock, Monday afternoon. He was captured after pursuit of about a quarter of a mile, and is now securely restrained, according to the asylum officials.

A prominent Vernon County citizen meets a tragic death
The many Nevada and Vernon County friends and acquaintances of Robert L. Kinkead, of Schell City, will be painfully shocked to learn that he was burned to death at Sacate, Ariz., Friday, when the store owned and operated by his son, William Kinkead, was destroyed by fire. Mr. Kinkead recently left Schell City for Oklahoma City to visit his brother, who is located in that city and later left for Sacate, a suburb of Phoenix, Ariz., to visit his two sons, William and John and his daughter, Mrs. Lewis Taylor, who have made their home there for several years. Mrs. Kinkead died at Phoenix on Dec. 6.

Warning of bogus checks in area
Vernon County Sheriff Les Hunt today warned local residents about no-account checks being passed in the area. To date, on worthless check in the amount of $19 and another in the amount of $39 have been uncovered.
The checks area printed, purportedly to be claim settlements from the Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company.
Both the known checks are signed H.C. Harris and endorsed by a non-existent Walter Randall of Butler.
