Albert H. Schmidt, 99, Moundridge., Kan., died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006. in Moundridge Manor Care Center, Moundridge, Kan., following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 1, 1906 in Goltry, Okla., to Henry Schmidt and Eva Becker Schmidt. He was married Feb. 6, 1929, in Enid, Okla., to Pearl Buller, She preceded him in death Nov. 7, 1988.
Mr. Schmidt was born and reared in Oklahoma. He made his living as a farmer. He came to the Harwood, Mo., area in 1976 and lived there until 1998. He spent the final seven and a half years of his life in Moundridge Manor Care Center, Moundridge, Kan. He was a member of the Living Faith Mennonite Church in Walker, Mo.
Survivors include one daughter, Joan Koehn, El Dorado Springs, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Norman and Lennis Schmidt; one son-in-law, Marvin Koehn; three granddaughters; and 10 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Living Faith Mennonite Church, Walker, Mo., with Ron Koehn, Herbert Leatherman and Robert Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Living Faith Mennonite Cemetery, Walker.
Friends may call now and until 5 p.m., Wednesday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. The family will receive friends at the Living Faith Memorial Church in Walker, on Wednesday, between 6 and 8 p.m.
