Frances Ellen Sisson, 65, Nevada, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness. She was born July 22, 1940, in Nevada, to James Albert Armstrong and Maxine Edith Nelson Armstrong. She married Donald Sisson on Dec. 17, 1963, in Miami, Okla., and he preceded her in death in 1995.
Frances was born and reared in Nevada and spent most all of her life here. She worked for many years in food service at Nevada Medical Lodge, retiring in 1993.
Survivors include three sons, David Hood, Marshalltown, Iowa, Mike Sisson, St. Joseph, Mo., and Mark Sisson, Gering, Neb.; four daughters, Diana Gicante, Deerfield, Mo., Donna Crews, Walker, Mo., Debbie Sisson and Linda Fanning, both of Nevada, Mo., numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jim Armstrong, Niangua, Mo. She was preceded in death by one brother, Albert Armstrong.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Jan. 26, at National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kan., with John Nichols officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 6-7 p.m., on Wednesday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Memorials may be given to the Vernon County Cancer Relief Fund in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
