Thirty-six persons perished
KANSAS CITY, Mo., -- A Pueblo dispatch says that according to investigation made up to this time; the number of persons who perished in the Denver and Rio Grande passenger wreck yesterday is placed at 36.
Seventeen persons are now in the morgue, burned beyond recognition. Three more names have been added to the list of known dead: T. Raymond of Keystone, Mrs. Kingston and Mrs. Steve Kingston.
A man named Murphy saved several fellow passengers and lost his own life while engaged in this heroic work.
Operator S.V. Lively was not arrested as previous dispatches stated. The only statement he will make is that "I was asleep."
The relief trains sent to the scene worked rapidly to relieve the injured and take care of the dead.
The monetary damage to the railroad property is estimated at $200,000. In addition to this, all the baggage on No. 16, was destroyed as well as the mail matter.

Railroad crossing accident
A Kansas City Southern railroad man and 7-year-old girl were hospitalized Friday afternoon following a crash at a railroad crossing three-fourths miles south of Schwartz. Lloyd Milton Nichols, 47, Pittsburg, Kan., is in the Nevada Hospital suffering from lacerations of the forehead, a severe contusion and possible neck injuries. Janith Sue Seitz, 7, is in Mercy Hospital, Fort Scott, Kan., in satisfactory condition.
