James E. Pryor, age 71, Nevada, Mo., died Monday, March 27, 2006, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo., following a short illness. He was born March 26,1935, in Nevada, to Thomas Marion Pryor and Dorothy Mae McMilan Pryor. He married Beverly F. Crump on Aug. 8, 1953, in Nevada, and she survives of the home.

James grew up in Nevada and attended Nevada Schools. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-'55 in Korea. He retired from Chicago Bridge and Iron in 1996 after 35 years of service where he had worked throughout the United States and overseas painting water towers. James was a lifelong resident of Nevada. He was a member of the Nevada Eagles Lodge No. 3770, the VFW Post No. 2175 and the American Legion Post No. 2, Nevada.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Beverly, include six children, Jim Pryor, rural Nevada, Susie Pritchett, Nevada, Steve Pryor, Nevada, Tracy Pryor, Joplin, Doug Pryor, Columbia, Mo., and Greg Pryor, Nevada; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dottie Haddix, Schell City, Mo.; two brothers, Bob Pryor, Fort Scott, Kan., and Ted Pryor, state of Arkansas; plus several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Karen Rae Pryor; and one brother, George Pryor.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, March 30, at Moore Cemetery, Nevada, with the Rev. Terry Mosher officiating. Friends may call now and until 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
