Joseph Acri

Joseph Acri, age 57, Fort Scott, Kan., died Thursday, March 30, 2006, at the Olathe Medical Center Emergency Room in Olathe, Kan., where he was transferred earlier. He was born Jan. 19, 1949, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Joseph Acri and Blanche Andolini Acri.

Following high school graduation, Joe served a term with the U.S. Navy. He then received his Sociology degree from Emporia State University in 1976. He married Martha Dill on May 22, 1976, in Winchester, Kan. Joe was retired as food service manager for Fort Scott Community College. His hobbies included yard work and landscaping.

Survivors include his wife, Martha, of the home; one daughter, Nicole Hamel and husband Cody, Paola, Kan.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joela Shulman.

The Rev. Jared Witt will conduct memorial services at 10:30 a.m., Monday in the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main. Private family burial will take place later in the Winchester, Kan., Cemetery.
