Middle school track

The Nevada Middle School track team was in Webb City for a meet Friday with the eighth-grade boys finishing fourth.

The seventh-grade boys finished fifth, while the eighth-grade girls were seventh and the seventh-grade girls sixth in the nine-team field.

Alex Christensen, Lawrence Shouse, Stephen Jenkins and three relay teams won events for the middle school teams.

Christensen won the boys seventh-grade triple jump, with a leap of 30-feet, 3-inches. Jenkins also won for the seventh-grade boys, taking the 1,600 meters in a time of 5:30.

Shouse won the boys eighth-grade discus with a toss of 126-3.

The boys eighth-grade relay teams in the 400 and 800 also won. Brandon Munsterman, Ross Wolfe, Mark Weatherly and Austin Baldwin were on the 400 team. Munsterman, Weatherly, Baldwin and Tyler Quick made up the 800 team.

The girls seventh-grade 800 relay team of Katie Brauer, Allie Irwin, Ellen Clauss and Blaine Domer also took first.

Also placing for the seventh grade girls were Lexi Johnson (third) and Domer (fifth) in the 400 meters. Ellen Clauss was third in the triple jump, while Erica Wagenknecht was fourth. Cierra Morris was third in the high jump. Johnson was fifth in the long jump. The 1,600 relay team was sixth.

Placing for the eighth grade girls were the 400 and 800 relay teams, each taking second. Taylor Beckett was also sixth in the 75 meter hurdles.

Placing for the seventh grade boys were Taylor Cartwright in the shot put (third); Christensen in the high jump (third); Blake Hasalton in the 75 hurdles (third); Gage Rice in the triple jump (fourth); Christensen in the hurdles (fourth); Jenkins in the 100 (fifth); Brenton Kafer in the 200 (fifth); and Kyle O'Bryon in the 1,600 (sixth). The 400 relay team was third and the 800 relay team was sixth.

Placing for the eighth grade boys were Austin Payne in the 800 and 1,600 (both second); Shouse in the shot put (third); Munsterman in the 100 (sixth) and Quick in the 75 hurdles (sixth).
