Maxine Berry, 81, Walker, Mo., died Sunday, April 16, 2006, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, Mo. She was born Nov. 27,1924, in Harwood, Mo., to Leo Wilber Clevenger and Ada Marie Steele Clevenger. She married James Edward Berry on March 12, 1944, in Walker. He preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1995.

Maxine grew up in the Harwood and Walker areas. She attended the Coal Creek School, in Harwood and the Walker High School. Maxine was a homemaker and worked on the farm with her husband near Ketterman where she had lived for the past 60 years. She was a member of the Berea Christian Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Caldwell and her husband Cecil, Walker, and Christine Eaton and her husband Danny, Walker; one son, Dennis Berry and his wife Donna, Walker; 10 grandchildren, Karla Findley, Florissant, Mo., Shana Wiggins, Nixa, Mo., Paxton, Berry, Nevada, Jason Eaton, Richards, Mo., Erika Groves, Weldona, Colo., Reagan Burns, Joplin, Mo., Travis Eaton, Nevada, Cameron Berry, Nevada, Deric Eaton, Nevada, and Shawn Eaton, Nevada; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Melvin Clevenger and his wife Rosemary, Ottawa, Kan.; two sisters, Dorothy Trower, Longview, Texas, and Geneva Ray, Shawnee, Kan.; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Berry, Walker, and Ruby Clevenger, Independence, Mo.; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Kenneth Clevenger; and one grandson, Gregory Caldwell in 1965.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, April 19, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Tim Brewer officiating. Interment will follow in Berea Cemetery, Ketterman, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 7-8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
