He was often heard saying, "I love it when a plan comes together!"
This has nothing to do with the winged warrior, but rather a group of garden tractor enthusiasts working together with the city to make something positive happen.
Some time ago, a group in town requested use of the Second Street Park and, partnering with the city, they helped lay out a track that would meet their needs. These are not our average garden tractors but high-powered grass cutters that try to prove how much weight they can move over a distance.
Last Saturday afternoon when returning from Redfield, we came by the park and saw cars, trailers, and rigs of every size spread throughout the park and a large group of people enjoying a beautiful spring day. The organizers indicated they had more than 70 tractors competing in the practice meet. One participant drove in from Lyons to be a part of the activity. The group has seven meets that will be held at Fort Scott through the summer.
Our hats are off to the folks who took time to make something positive happen and make a difference here in Fort Scott.
