Inez Hertha Rutherford

Inez Hertha Rutherford, 88, formerly of Nevada, Mo., died Thursday, July 6, 2006, in Missouri Valley, Iowa, after a long bout with cancer. Inez was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Oct. 4, 1917, to Ollie Milton Daugherty and Minnie Agnes Schwartz Daugherty. They lived in various places in Harrison and Pottawattamie counties in Iowa, until 1968 when she moved to Nevada, Mo., where she resided until her illness caused her to moved to Kansas in 1995, and finally in 2000, to Missouri Valley, to live with another daughter.

lnez married Joseph Points on Nov. 29, 1935, in Loveland, Iowa. He died on Aug. 15, 1949, To this union were born five children. She married Joseph Chevalier on Nov. 5, 1955, in Dakota City, Neb. To this union were born two children. Inez later married Johnnie M. Rutherford on July 5, 1985, in Nevada, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1988.

Inez was a member of the RLDS Church, Missouri Valley, and the Nevada Eagles Lodge. She worked at Blue Star Foods in Council Bluffs, during the early 1960s.

After moving to Nevada, she worked at Chat &. Chew as a bartender and later was employed at Nevada Middle School as a custodian for several years until her retirement.

She leaves the following family to remember her: one brother, Roger Daugherty, El Dorado Springs, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Alice Daugherty, Eagle, Neb.; five daughters, JoAn Breth and her husband, Robert, Dothan, Ala., Sharron Innes and Peggy Mefferd, Missouri Valley, Iowa, Vickie Jordon, and her husband Tim, Nevada, Mo., Toni White, and her husband Michael, Preston, Kan.; two sons, Donald Points, and his wife, Judy, Spring Hill. Fla., Raymond Points and his wife, Doris, Mesquite, Nev.; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren, as well as many other family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; sisters, Mildred Hansen, Ollie Points and Helen Lamkins, and brothers, Donald and Roy Daugherty.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am. Monday, July 10, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow in the Marvin Chapel Cemetery, Milo, Mo. Friends may call at noon on Saturday and until the hour of service. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
