Maye Rosamond, 88, Deerfield, Mo., passed away at her home on Aug. 11, 2006. She was born June 10, 1918, in Liberal, Kan., to James Emerson McGriff and Aletha Dykes McGriff.

Maye grew up in the Jane, Mo., area south of Joplin. She worked at an ammunitions plant in St. Louis during World War II, making. 50 caliber machine gun shells. Most of her working life, she worked as a waitress. She worked at the Conner Hotel in Joplin for a number of years and for Bob Moore's Restaurant in Nevada for many years. Maye has lived in the Deerfield areas for the past 40 years.

Survivors include two sons, Lynn Rosamond, Deerfield, Mo., Alvin T. Rosamond, the state of Tennessee; one daughter Jeannie Johnson, Pleasant Hill, Mo.; five grandchildren,; and two brothers, Jim McGriff and Don McGriff, both of Osceola, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and two brothers.

Funeral services will beheld at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, Aug. 14, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, Mo., with the Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
