Sarah Martin -- Brad Newman

Mike and Carla Martin of Shamrock, Texas, announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Martin, to Brad Newman, son of Mike and Kathy Newman, of Walker, Mo.

The couple plan to wed Jan. 6, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Shamrock.

The bride-elect graduated in 2003 from West Texas High School in Stinnett, Texas. She plans to graduate from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla., in December, with a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary English Education.

The prospective groom graduated in 2002 from Northeast Vernon County High School in Walker, Mo. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Oklahoma Baptist University in May 2006, and is employed by the Amarillo Globe-News in Amarillo, Texas.
