Boyd -- 50 years

Retired Army Col. and Mrs. Robert C. Boyd will be married 50 years on Sept. 5, 2006. Robert Clark Boyd and the former Sherrill Jean Wise were married in the First Baptist Church, Nevada, Mo., Sept. 5, 1956.

Robert graduated from Wentworth Military Academy, Lexington, Mo., before going on to receive a Bachelor of Science from Pittsburg State Teachers College, Pittsburg, Kan., in May of 1958. That summer he was commissioned into the United States Army as a second lieutenant and served for 22 years, retiring in June of 1981, at Fort Riley, Kan.

Sherrill, a graduate of Nevada High School, Nevada, Mo., attended Cottey College in Nevada for one year prior to their marriage and later received a degree in education from Saint Mary College, Leavenworth, Kan. Before retirement, she worked with Intercessors International of Bulverde, Texas, leading prayer seminars in churches of various denominations throughout the Midwest.

Children of the couple and their spouses are: Robert Jr. and Teresa Boyd, Lisa and Fred Riedinger, all of Amarillo, Texas; Laurie and pastor Mark Roberts, Wamego Kan.; and Brad and Maryhelen Boyd, Riverside, Mo. The couple also have 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A family celebration will be held at a later date.
