During a meeting set for 7 o'clock, tonight, in city council chambers, inside the city's public safety building at Ash and Austin, the Nevada City Council's agenda once again calls for discussion of the proposed repeal of an ordinance relating to political activity by city employees. The current ordinance prohibits city employees from running for "Municipal office or to any office in conflict with the employee's duties unless such person resigns or obtains a regularly granted leave of absence. "Also, no elected official can be appointed to "any position covered by the municipal classification system" while in office. Employees cannot use their authority to influence the outcome of the election, and various other political activities are prohibited in the ordinance.
The council also plans to hear a report about the animal shelter.
A discussion of the city's rules relating to local vendor preference in bids is also on the agenda.
