Outlaw Night had regular race cars, some with wings and some with billboards, all racing together. The cars with billboards really sailed around the track. All drivers drew for their starting positions with finishes in the heats determining their starting positions in the Features. There was a scare during the Late Model Feature as Shannon Phillips and Jerry Morgan got together, sending Phillips into a retaining tire. He then became airborne and went barrel rolling. Luckily Phillips climbed from the car and was OK, however the car had to be taken from the track on a rollback. This week we have an Ugly Truck Contest and a Powder Puff race on tap. The next week will feature a Mechanics Race. Oct. 14 is a swap meet, and a rules meeting will be held at the speedway. The rules meeting will start at 2 p.m. The racing is always exciting at Nevada Speedway and you never know what will happen.

The Late Model heat race winner was Donnie Timmerman, El Dorado Springs, who had a set of billboards. Timmerman and Ron Bolin Sr., were the only cars in the field sporting billboards. At the start of the Feature, Shannon Phillips and Jerry Morgan got together sending Phillips into the retaining tires. This sent him airborne and the barrel rolled several times in the air before landing on the track. A red flag flew, stopping the race until the car could be taken back to the pits. Phillips was able to climb from the car and was OK. The car is another story and will need extensive repairs. Cars were relined and the race started with Timmerman getting the lead. Timmerman quickly left the field behind and was lapping them when the checkered flag flew. This was his sixth win of the year.

The Modified heat race winner was Craig Wood, El Dorado Springs, who had a set of billboards. Ron McClellan got the lead at the start of the Feature. Chris Prussman, with a billboard, was able to pass on the high side to capture the lead. Prussman and Andy Claiborne, also with a billboard, raced side by side around the track until Claiborne was able to gain the lead. A yellow flew as Claiborne's car went up in smoke and dropped parts on the track. This placed Prussman back in the lead for the restart. Prussman from Brookings, S.D., took the win.

The Street Stock heat Race winners were Doug Chrisenbery, Bronaugh, and Rusty Skaggs, Fort Scott, Kan. Skaggs had a set of billboards and wings. Doug Chrisenbery got the lead at the start of the Feature. Skaggs went around the high side and took the lead. Dustin Beisley went spinning, bringing out the yellow flag and closing the field behind Skaggs for the restart. Skaggs had left the field behind when the yellow flew again. Beisley got into the retaining tires and spun, sending the tires rolling. Skaggs led the field to the green flag and again gained a big lead on the field. Skaggs captured the win, his first of the season.

The Factory Stock Heat race winners were Tiny Joles, Fort Scott, Kan., and Ronnie Shadden, Nevada. Joles got the lead at the start of the Feature. Mark Selsor went spinning, collecting the car of Chris Routery and bringing out the yellow flag. Joles was in the lead for the restart. Joe Davis raced up to give Joles a strong challenge but Joles was able to maintain the lead and capture the win, his fifth of the year.

The Mini Stock heat race winner was Brandon Leer, Nevada, who had a set of billboards. Duane Crews got the lead at the start of the Feature. Leer, starting at the back of the field, took the high side and captured the lead. Jerry Wilson went spinning, which brought out the yellow flag and closed the field behind Leer for the restart. Leer never looked back as he collected the win, his second of the year.
