Yard of the Week program ends until next year

The Yard of the Week program was a good time for everyone involved this year! the chamber of commerce, the Nevada Garden Club and the Nevada Daily Mail worked together to make this fun for everyone.

The Chamber of Commerce began this program in 2004, asking the garden club to be the judges for the respective nominees. Not only did this contest encourage gardeners to spruce up their gardens, but also many Nevada residents were involved by nominating their favorite garden for judging.

The garden club members who took turns judging the various gardens not only had fun perusing lots of gardens, but thoroughly enjoyed meeting all of their creators, hearing their stories and garden tips and passing this information on to the readers.

Ralph Pokorny from the Nevada Daily Mail had a great time covering the winners pictorially. He did a wonderful job, using inserts in order to get in as many pictures as he could in the allotted space. Also, the editor, Lynn Wade, did her best to get most of the winners in color to offer the best images to the readers.

The Nevada/Vernon County Chamber of Commerce, the Nevada Garden Club and the Nevada Daily Mail would like to thank all of the nominators and nominated gardeners for your cooperation and participation in making this annual project such a success.
