The Nevada City Council will meet tonight to consider, among other items, the second reading of a general ordinance to move the council's meeting time back to 7 p.m. from the current regular meeting time of 6 p.m.

The council also plans to vote on an ordinance to allow city employees to take part in political activities. The ordinance will prohibit city employees from running for any municipal office; however, they may run for other non-partisan offices that do not conflict with their city jobs.

They will also be considering an ordinance setting the date of the 2007 municipal election and the filing dates for candidates wishing to run for the city council. Other items on the agenda include an amendment to the 2006 city budget, an ordinance revising the city's procedures for obtaining engineering and architectural services, a taxi license for Larry W. Kirkendoll and a service agreement with Accupay, LLC, to handle the city's payroll. The council will also hold a public hearing on the city's taxi coupon program.
