James A. Wallace, 83, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 21, 1922, in Mulberry, Kan., to Dwight Wallace and Jessie West Wallace. He married Maxine A. Short on Feb. 27, 1944, in Fort Scott, Kan., and she survives of the home.

Jim grew up in Nevada and went to school in a rural country school. He started Wallace Electric as owner and operator in 1956 which has been in business for 50 years. In 1981, his son, Randy took over the business upon Jim's early retirement. Jim served on the City Electrical Board for a number of years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Osage Masonic Lodge in Nevada.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Maxine; include two sons, Richard A. Wallace and his wife, Patricia, Grandview, Mo., Randall E. Wallace and his wife, Sandy, Nevada; grandchildren, Dana C. Kennedy and her husband, Mike, Liberty, Mo., Jennifer L. Johnson and her husband, Clark, Kansas City, Mo., Lindsay A. Douglas and her husband, Josh, Springfield, Mo., and Lanette A. McInroy and her husband, Zach, Moundville, Mo.; four great-grandchildren, Madelynne and James Kennedy, and Lauren and Julia Johnson; one brother, Donald Wallace and his wife, Jane, Beloit, Kan.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Lou Keithly in 1958.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 9, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO, with William Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call from 12 p.m., on Saturday until the hour of service at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Salvation Army in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
