Tigers third at Bolivar cross country invite

The Nevada High School boys cross country team placed third and the girls were fifth at the Bolivar Invitational Tuesday.

Nevada had 83 points in the boys' competition, finishing behind Springfield Catholic (23) and Clinton (57).

The same two schools finished atop the girls' varsity run, with Catholic at 31 points and Clinton at 44. Nevada had 122 points.

Trevor Hinkle led Nevada harriers, finishing fourth overall with a time of 17 minutes, 17 seconds in the 5,000-meter race.

Nash Smith was 16th with a time of 18:20, Nevada's second best runner Tuesday.

Ty Lero was right behind Smith, with at time of 18:22, 17th overall.

Jacob Query was 22nd, his time 18:57.

Mark Reed ran a time of 19:04, placing 24th overall.

Chris Bray was 26th with a time of 19:10.

Todd Brier was the only other varsity runner with a time of 21:35.

In the boys' junior varsity run, Pat Barnett (22:30) and Tyler Werner (23:11) ran the same course.

On the girls' side, Kadee Hughes was the leading Nevada runner with a time of 24:23, 20th individually.

Bethany Moore had a time of 25:52, 25th overall.

Daven Smith was 27th with a time of 26:15.

Caedran Audley was 28th with a time of 26:21, while Emily Watts was 29th with a time of 26:36.

The lone JV runner was Allie Query with a time of 26:57, ninth overall.

The district cross country meet will be at Marmaduke Park in Nevada Saturday, with the girls' varsity at 11 a.m. and the boys at 11:45.
