The Maranatha Christian Fellowship, 300 South Spring, is participating in a National Day of Healing, a non-denominational event proposed by Hunter Ministries, Kingwood, Texas. The event will take place Saturday, Oct. 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"People can come by any time during that period," Shirley Norwood, speaking for Maranatha Christian Fellowship, said. "It isn't something that you need to be there the whole time for. They can come by at any time and stay for as long or as little as they want."

People who go will meet with a team who have had training in healing prayer. Churches of many denominations are holding healing schools to teach people how to minister healing successfully.

"We've taken the classes to learn the process. We're from different churches that have come together to learn to do this." Norwood said. "I've worked with them (the Hunter Ministry) for 19 years. We'll have trained healing teams ready to minister to anyone who comes by."

Many well-known personalities are taking part in the day of healing. Joel Osteen, Marilyn Hickey, Robb Thompson, and many others are part of the event as well as Daystar, a Christian television network available from 50 stations serving more than 50 million households in the United States.

The Hunters, known as the "Happy Hunters," are evangelists who have ministered in 49 nations, authored 57 books, and produced DVD's teaching on the subject of healing.

On their Web site the couple explain what they are hoping to accomplish.

"God spoke to us at the beginning of the year and told us to have a National Day of Healing where people of every denomination could participate," a page on the site says, "All churches will need to do is train their people how to minister healing to the sick and then open their church on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and let people come in from all over your city or your area to have hands laid on them by trained personnel. A wave of healing and revival will follow."

The husband and wife team have appeared on Regis and Kathie Lee, CBS 60 Minutes, Tom Snyder, Benny Hinn on TBN, CBN, Cornerstone TV and other national television programs.
