Hinkle qualifies for state again

Nevada's Trevor Hinkle finished seventh at the district cross country meet held at Marmaduke Park Saturday. Hinkle qualified for the state meet for the second straight year.

NEVADA, Mo. -- Nevada cross country ace Trevor Hinkle finished seventh in the district meet held at Marmaduke Park Saturday, qualifying for the state meet for the second consecutive year.

Hinkle, a junior, finished the 5,000 meter course in a time of 17 minutes, 30.30 seconds, well behind the winning time of 16:40.29 set by Harrisonville's Maksim Korolev.

A quartet of Lady Tiger harriers traverse the course at Marmaduke Park during Saturday's district cross country meet.

As a team, the Nevada boys finished fifth with 142 points. Carthage won the district crown with 41 points.

In the girls' race, Jamie Haffner of Pleasant Hill won with a time of 20:02.31. Carl Junction won the girls' team title.

Nevada finished sixth in the girls' contest.

The top Lady Tiger was Kadee Hughes, who was 33rd. Bethany Moore (38th), Daven Smith (39), Allie Query (42), Katie Brier (44) and Emily Watts (46) also ran.

Jacob Query (30), Chris Bray (36), Mark Reed (38), Todd Brier (47) also ran for the boys.
