Valma M. Simpson

Valma M. Simpson, age 71, of Nevada, passed away on Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada following a lengthy illness. She was born on May 18, 1935, in Greenfield, Mo., to John Harper and Mabel L. Flagg Harper. On Oct. 17, 1956, she was married in El Dorado Springs to Jim L. Simpson and he survives of the home.

Valma grew up in Lamar and Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1951. She worked at Key Work Clothes in Nevada for 28 years until her retirement in 2000.

In addition to her husband Jim, she is survived by five children, Mike Simpson, Debbie Spencer, Bruce Simpson and his wife Kelly, Janet Day and her husband David, and David Simpson and his wife Grace, all of Nevada; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Harper; and two sisters, Violet Spencer of Oklahoma, Maxine Yount of Sarcoxie, Mo., and Juanita Howlett of Cherryville, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with John Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery. Friends may call from now until the hour of service and the family will receive friends from 7-8, this evening at the funeral home.
