Tracy L. Pitts, 51, of rural Nevada, Mo., died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, in Nevada. He was born Nov. 11, 1955, in Nevada, to Alfred Leon Pitts and Betty Jean Garrett Pitts. He was married July 23, 1977, in Nevada, to Nancy Thomas and she survives of the home.

Mr. Pitts was born and reared in this area and spent his entire life here. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1974. Following high school he made his living in a variety of pursuits primarily in farming and trucking and was currently trucking for Conway Central Express. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nevada and was a board member of Farm Bureau, member and past-president of the Vernon County Youth Fair Board and was very active with the local youth fair. He was also a member of the Pittsburg Masonic Lodge.

In addition to his wife Nancy, survivors include two sons, Thomas Pitts, Nevada, and Travis Pitts, Nevada; one daughter, Tabitha Pitts, Nevada; his mother, Betty Pitts, Walker, Mo.; two brothers, Terry Pitts, Aurora, Mo., and Nick Pitts, Kirksville, Mo.; two sisters, Alfrenita Pitts, Ridgedale, Mo., and Marjeanna Smith, Milo, Mo.; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Leon Pitts and one brother, Dustin Pitts.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 5, at the First Baptist Church, Nevada, with Dr. William Cox officiating. Interment followed at Milo Cemetery, Milo.

The family suggests that memorials may be made, in his honor, to either the Vernon County Youth Fair or the Pitts Scholarship Fund at Nevada High School, in care of the funeral home.
