Three candidates now vying for council seat

Friday, December 15, 2006

Nevada Daily Mail

The number of candidates for the Nevada City Council election grew to four with the filing of Melissa Earll, 1005 S. College, and Mayor Jim Rayburn, then was reduced to three with the withdrawal of Lynn Sheridan, who notified the city clerk of that decision this morning.

This means there will be a primary election on March 6 to narrow the field to two.

The deadline for filing for the election is 5 p.m., Dec.19.

Persons interested in filing for the seat, currently held by Jim Rayburn, must file at the city clerks office in the city hall, 110 S. Ash, Nevada, Mo.

Prospective candidates needing more information about qualifications or how to file can call the city clerk at (417) 448-2700.
