Leroy Harris, age 72, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, at the Fort Scott Manor. He was born Aug. 12, 1934, in Fairplay, Mo., the son of James S. Harris and Jesse E. Ford Harris. He married Shirley Ballou on Jan. 26, 1954, in Fort Scott, Kan.

He was a member of the Nazarene Church and his hobbies included woodworking, restoring cars, fishing and camping.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of the home; and two daughters, Vicki J. Kruger, Fort Scott, and Terri L. Shelton, Portland, Texas; three sisters, Kathryn Rector, Greenfield, Mo., Emma Hall and Sue Hoskin, both of Fort Scott; one brother, John Harris, Fort Scott; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, David Harris.

Pastor Scott Moore will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation Monday evening from 6-7 p.m., at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
