Jacob Andrew Rex Sluder

Jacob Andrew Rex Sluder, age 17, of Rich Hill, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007. He was born Oct. 21, 1989, to Jeffrey Rex and Carol Cathleen Hartupee Sluder in Clayton County, Ga.

Jacob, the youngest of five children, grew up in several locations including Oklahoma City, Okla., and Rich Hill. He attended school at Rich Hill and was currently working on his GED. Jacob was baptized at the Sweet Water Tabernacle in Rich Hill. Jacob enjoyed playing basketball, working on cars, fishing, hunting, riding four wheelers, skate boarding, wrestling with his brothers and hanging out with his friends and listening to music. Always wanting to be heard, he was quite verbal with his opinion and was scared of nothing. Caring greatly for his mother he was always checking up on her, wanting to know who she was with and where she was -- even trying to run her household.

Jacob is survived by his mother, Cathy Wood of Nevada, Mo.; his father, Jeffrey Sluder of Georgia; three brothers, Robert Henderson and wife Lacey of Butler, Mo., Richard Henderson and wife Luba of Fayette, Mo., and Jayme Sluder and wife Jina of Butler; one sister, Ashley Sluder of Nevada; beloved girlfriend, Melissa Lane of Amsterdam, Mo.; four nephews, Ethan, Connor, Noah and Alexander Henderson; two uncles, Ricky Hartupee of Orlando, Fla., and Danny Walden and wife Yvette of Miami, Fla.; and his grandfather Robert Hartupee Jr. of Carrollton, Ga.

Cremation memorial services were at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19, at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler with the Rev. Carl Covey officiating.
