In praise of Blunt's health care proposal

Dear editor:

As a person who often gets frustrated when I see government throwing my taxpayer dollars at a problem without results, I would like to say thank you to Gov. Blunt for his new health care proposal. Medicaid is one of those programs that had good intentions but went awry. Gov. Blunt saw this and decided that it was time for a change. Low income Missourians deserve a system that treats them like human beings without bankrupting the state, and it seems to me the governor's new health care plan does that. Let's get behind this.

Congratulations to

newspaper staff

Dear editor:

I want to congratulate three people responsible for making last Friday's (Feb. 2) "Daily Mail" especially memorable: first, Lynn A. Wade, for her warming front-page photo of one of Marie McCullough's lovely sisters; second, friend Tim Wells and his travelling companion and personal guru Lizzie, for his humorous column "Conversations with a Friend;" and, finally, Richard Carpenter, for his insightful "Pros and Cons" column on Robert Frost's poem, "The Road Not Taken." His subsequent advice to his daughter seems to me to hit the bull's-eye.

So, to these three, let me say, "Right-on, and let the smalltown newspaper prevail!"
