Elizabeth Bernice Dobson, 78, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness. She was born July 1, 1928, at home in Lexington, Mo., to John Herbert Rasa and Lorraine Elvina Buhlig Rasa. She married George E. Dobson on Jan. 10, 1948, in Lexington, Mo., and he survives of the home.

Bernice graduated from Garr High School in Dover, Mo. She and her family moved to Nevada in 1953. Bernice worked various occupations during her lifetime including Mattingly Brothers, Lexington, Mo.; Montgomery Wards, Kansas City, Mo.; Kansas Ordinance Plant, Parsons, Kan.; Noah Lee Real Estate, Nevada, (north side of the Square); Crawford Real Estate where she was a licensed sales person and bookkeeper; Vernon County Abstract through owners Vesta Braham and Barth and Katy Hinkle; William G. McCaffree for 20 years; Vernon County Circuit Clerk for 20 years and wrote the handbook for Circuit Clerks for the State of Missouri. Following her retirement, she was instrumental in getting the rural water district for Grove, Okla., as well as Cowskin Rural Fire Protection District. Bernice was a baptized member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Lexington, Mo. Her memberships include past president of Soroptomist International 1974-'76, recipient of Soroptomist "Woman Helping Woman Award," past president of Nevada BPW, a past member of the Vernon County Legal Secretaries, and was very active in the local and state Democratic Party.

Survivors in addition to her husband, George of 59 years of marriage, include one son, Larry Dobson and his wife Jean, New Roads, La.; one daughter, Linda Curtis and her husband Monte, Nevada; grandchildren, Andy Remington and his wife Donetta, Nevada, J.J. Curtis, Nevada, Jeff Dobson, New Roads, La., Darren Ingram and his wife Suzie, Libuse, La., Christy Eaves and her husband Scott, Ventressa, La., and Luke Ducote, New Roads; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Trevor, Braden, Austin, Jake, Jeannie and Molly; two brothers, Frances Rasa and his wife Katy, Lexington, Mo., and Harlan Rasa and his wife Doris, Lexington; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Dobson, Kansas City, Mo.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and Jack Handley, Kimberling City, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 10, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Joseph Powers officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Nevada. A wake service will be held at 6 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 9, with visitation following until 8 p.m. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
