Pleasanton opens track season

ARCHIE, Mo. -- Pleasanton High School's track team opened its season Thursday at the Archie Invitational. The boys earned eight medals while the girls took home six.

Megan Allen won three of the girls' medals as she won the 100 meters in 13.4 seconds and the triple jump with an effort of 32 feet, six inches. She also took second in the 200 meters in 27.5 seconds.

Brynn Everett placed second in the high jump, clearing 4-10 while Megan Reach was fourth in pole vault at 7-6. Michelle Mitchell tied for sixth in the pole vault at seven feet even.

Danny McCullough won boys' pole vault as he cleared 11 feet even. Chris Duggins was second in shot put with a throw of 42-6. Bryant Mendell took third in the 3,200 meters in 11:27 and fifth in the 1,600 in 5:13.5. Chris Duggins placed sixth in the discus at 113-5 while Dakota Kern was sixth in the 200 meters in 25.3.

Two boys' relays also won medals. The 4x200-meter team of McCullough, Jeff Fairbanks, Travis Bradley and Kern finished fourth in 1:42.9. The 4x100-meter team of Kern, Fairbanks, Bradley and McCullough took sixth in 49.7.

St. Mary's, Mo. won the girls' team title with 162 points. Pleasanton finished in fourth place with 40 points.

Lone Jack, Mo., boys scored 99 points to win the team title. Pleasanton finished eighth with 33 points. A total of 17 schools participated.
