Robert was born and reared in Nevada. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and Korea, He retired from the military in 1964. Following the service Robert made his living in construction, residing in a variety of locales. He had spent the last eight years in Tacoma. Robert was a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Patrick Armstrong, Tacoma; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Arthur Armstrong, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert Armstrong; two sisters; and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, May 8, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with John Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kan. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
