Dentist Ron Schowengerdt may have more cars and trucks than anyone in Nevada. He has sedans, coupes and convertibles; pickup trucks, delivery trucks and vans; he even has semi-trailers -- all in display cases in his office. Schowengerdt likes cars, and he even has a collection of full-sized cars in various stages of repair.

Saturday, May 19, Schowengerdt will host a show of cars, trucks and motorcycles at his office at 1701 W. Austin, billed as the First Annual Show N' Shine. There is no charge either for those with cars to show or those who just want to look them over. Schowengerdt's wife, Linda, said they were doing it for the fun of it.

"It's about the fun, not about money," Linda said.

The poster for the event puts it this way: "Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles, Projects, Classics, Originals. 'Run What You Got!'"

She did say that voluntary donations would be accepted and that proceeds would benefit two local organizations, the Moss House and the Vernon County Ambulance District's toy drive.

"Whatever we take in, large or small, will go to those two groups," Linda said. "We'll have something for people to eat, hot dogs, chips and soda, and charge a minimal amount for it and that will go to Moss House and the Ambulance District as well."

One of the featured vehicles will be an ambulance from the district and a wide variety of cars have already signed up to show as well. There will be a 1929 Ford pickup street rod, a 1941 Chevrolet coupe, a 1967 Chevrolet Malibu.

"I'm not sure if Ron will have any of his cars in the show," Linda said. "He has several, and one of them is almost cherry, but I don't know if they will be there."
