Hazel Dell Dawson, 91, Lake Ozark, Mo., passed away on July 16, 2007, at Lake Ozark Retirement Center following a recent illness. She was born Sept. 25, 1915, near Warrensburg, Mo., the daughter of Luther Wade Dawson and Stella Marye Dawson.
Miss Dawson earned her bachelor's degree in education from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg. She taught school in the Kansas City, Mo., school district for many years, retiring from there at age 65. She remained in Kansas City until December 2002, when she moved to Lake Ozark, Mo., to be near her niece and caregiver. She grew up in the Rinehart Christian Church and was a member of the Community Christian Church of Kansas City while living there.
She is survived by one brother, Roy Dawson, Horton, Mo.; niece, Shirley Wade Hirner, Lake Ozark, Mo., also other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Carpenter and Thelma Wade.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Friday, July 20, at Richland Cemetery with pastor David Rorabaugh officiating. Friends may call now and until 11 a.m., on Friday and the family will receive friends from 10-11a.m., on Friday, July 20, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
