WATERLOO, Iowa -- The Nevada High School wrestling team traveled to Waterloo recently to compete in the University of Northern Iowa team camp.

Nevada, under head coach Kevin Huck, managed an impressive 9-0-2 record, finishing second only to Tohma, Wisc., which was 10-0-1 -- its only blemish coming in a tie with Nevada.

In a final-day tournament for wrestlers with only one loss, Ryan Herda (215 pounds) and Spenser Daniels (189) of the Tigers secured first-place medals. Heavyweight Jerrod Alexander and Mason Heard (112) were second-place finishers.

Other competitors from Nevada included Trey Miller (119) and Josh Palmer (145).

Cole Bond (152) suffered an ankle injury early in the dual rounds and didn't finish.

Several other matches were won by Nevada's Spencer Scotten (103), Scotty Bough (125), Coty McDonald (130), Todd Brier (135), Tyler Warner (160) and Lawrence Shouse (171), which contributed to the Tigers' runner-up finish, giving them high expectations for this winter.

This is a very disrespectful comment. Obviously made by someone who knows very little about the sport of wrestling.

Why are so many coaches obese and out of shape?

Shouldn't they set a good example for the students?
