Cottey to launch new year with picnic, and concert set for Sept. 1

Cottey College will celebrate the opening of the new school year with a picnic and concert, scheduled for 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 1, at BIL Hill.

A concert featuring John Rush will be presented immediately after the picnic is served.

Promoters say Rush "takes you on a musical journey like no other one-man show can by singing and playing guitar, bass, harmonica, piano, saxophone, keyboard and percussion. He is a virtuoso guitarist with a great voice!"

Rush as been described as a "Human iPod" due to his vast repertoire, and he takes requests during shows of the more than 60 hours of original and cover music that comprise that repertoire. Throughout his career, Rush has opened for Fuel, Eve 6, Vertical Horizon, Edwin McCain and many more.

The cost for the picnic meal is $5 and may be paid at the door. The concert is free.

BIL Hill is at the south end of College Street, Nevada, just above Radio Springs Park.
