Klingaman takes seventh

GIRARD, Kan. -- Adysen Mertens and Natalie Bird finished 1-2 in the final standings, leading the Carl Junction High School golf team to an overwhelming victory over the rest of the pack Friday afternoon at the Girard Invitational.

Mertens fired an 85, including a 39 on the front nine, and Bird finished at 90, including a 43 on the first nine holes.

Heather Klingaman of NHS finished in sole possession of seventh place after carding a 109. The Lady Tigers finished in fourth place in the team standings with a 468, three strokes back of third-place Joplin.
