Arthur E. "Bill" Christie

Arthur Earl "Bill" Christie was born Dec. 9, 1918, in Effingham, Kan., to Arthur and Mary Ellen (Stallsworth) Christie and passed away on, Sept. 10, 2007, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs, Mo.

In 1941, Arthur was in the U.S. Navy as a Second Class Petty Officer, with the gunnery unit. He fought in Pearl Harbor while on a destroyer ship. On April 15, 1948, he was united in marriage to Edna Mae Bush and to this union three children were born; Deborah, Billy and Bob.

Arthur and Edna spent their early married life in Kansas City, where he worked for Colgate-Palmolive for almost 30 years. Arthur was an avid fisherman. God was a major factor in Arthur's life. He joined the Rainbow Church of the Nazarene, in Kansas City, Kan., and later he and Edna started the Highland Crest Church in a small house. In September of 1973 he and Edna moved to El Dorado Springs where they were faithful, longtime members of the El Dorado Springs Church of the Nazarene. Arthur's life long passion was building the Kingdom of God and being obedient to his Lord regardless of what others thought.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna, two brothers, Robert and Clarence, four sisters, Musie Kibber, Beulah Fliesher, Siney Robbins and Dorthy Henning.

Arthur is survived by his three children; one daughter, Deborah Barlow of El Dorado Springs, Mo., and two sons, Billy, of Olathe, Kan., and Bob, of El Dorado Springs; seven grandchildren, Angela Barlow, Amy Barlow, Drew, Chase, Camille, Hollie and Justin Christie; eight great-grandchildren, Case Hampton, Seth Christie, Dustin and Austin Bulingame, Kaghan Mays, Eather Walker, Cade and Carter Christie.

Services were held Friday, Sept. 14, at the El Dorado Springs Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Wendell Daniel officiated. Pall bearers were: Justin Christie, Chase Christie, Bob Christie, Drew Christie, Bobby Barton, and Bill Christie.
