Corky Siegel Chamber Blues to perform at Cottey Oct. 10

Cottey College is set to host internationally known Corky Siegel Chamber Blues. Based in Chicago, Ill., Corky Siegel has combined elements of blues and chamber music since 1968, and has performed with Chamber Blues around the world since 1987.

Winner of multiple awards and titles including the French Government's Grand Prix du Disque and Illinois Arts Council Fellowship Award, Siegel told us that he is most proud of the Lila Wallace/Readers Digest Award for chamber composition.

"They told me not to bother, there were big names with orchestras like the Philharmonic backing them." said Siegel, "They told me what I needed to hear, so I sent in the music and we won."

Siegel has collaborated with well-respected orchestras worldwide including the New York Philharmonic, NHK Symphony of Japan, Boston Symphony Orches-tra.

His music has been choreographed by five different international ballet companies, and used in an Emmy Award-winning television program.

The concert is to take place Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 8 p.m., in the auditorium of the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts. Tickets for the show will be on sale at the door the evening of the show. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for those under age 18 or over the age of 62.

Corky Siegel Chamber Blues is funded in part by Crowder college. Financial assistance for this project has been provided by the Missouri Arts council, a state agency. According to a press release from Cottey College, this presentation is supported by Mid-America Arts Alliancewith generous underwritting by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Missouri Arts Council, and foundations, corporations, and individuals throughout Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.

The Center for the Arts is located on the northeast corner of Austin Boulevard and Tower street in Nevada.
