Rich Hill wins over Drexel

Wednesday, October 10, 2007

The Rich Hill Tigers steamrolled their way to another win Friday night over Drexel. In a one-sided contest, the Tigers shut out Drexel through 3 quarters, on their way to a 40-6 win. The game's overall performance statistics were almost as staggering as the final score would indicate, with Rich Hill completing 73 percent of its passes for 146 yards, while Drexel completed 23 percent for 71 yards with 3 interceptions. The first downs and rushing were fairly even though, with Rich Hill running the ball 28 times for 112 yards and Drexel running 41 times for 90 yards, and Rich Hill edging out the first down total 11-10. The scoring was a bit slow to start, with a scoreless first quarter, but soon picked up with two 1-yard touchdown runs by Rusty Thomas, giving the Tigers a 13-0 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, the fire continued to burn for Rich Hill, with an 80-yard kickoff return by Tony Rich, followed by a 2-point conversion and a 10-yard touchdown pass from Rusty Thomas to Ryan Brocker, extending the Tigers' lead to 28-0.

The Tigers would again add to their lead early in the fourth quarter on a 32-yard touchdown pass from Rusty Thomas to Tyler Rysen, before allowing Drexel's only score of the game on a 1-yard touchdown run by Justin Sanders, making the lead 34-6. The Tigers would then go on to cap off the victory with a 51-yard touchdown run by Ryan Brocker and a missed 2-point conversion, leading to the final score of 40-6.

This win improved the Tigers' overall record to 4-2, with a conference record of 2-2.
