Nevada City Council to discuss planning issues, formally OK wastewater bonds

The Nevada City Council will take the next step in the construction of the new sewer treatment plant the upgrade of the city's sewer mains Tuesday night, when they consider an emergency ordinance authorizing the issuance of $12 million in combined waterworks and sewerage system revenue bonds.

The council will also be considering an ordinance to amend the 2007 city budget to allow planning for the parks sales tax projects to go forward.

Other items on their agenda include consideration of bids for a new truck for the city's code enforcement officer and a liquor license for the Cherry Street Grill.

The council also will be considering the first readings of several ordinances, including one to allow sewer connections for two tracts in the Twin Creeks development, ordinances declaring two pieces of property where the city removed dangerous buildings as surplus property so they can be sold, an emergency ordinance amending the 2007 city budget to allow the city to purchase a code enforcement truck and a resolution approving a new street light at the intersection of North Main and Hardin streets.

They will also be taking up the second reading an ordinance to correct a printing error in the municipal code.

Also on the agenda are two proclamations -- one to rename the soccer field at Walton Park the Joe McHugh Memorial Soccer Fields, and the second announcing Poppy Days in Nevada.

The agenda also includes an executive session for discussion of legal actions, causes of actions or litigation and confidential communications with the city and its attorneys.
