The Hume R-8 School Board voted to set the filing dates for the seats that will be up for grabs in the April election. The seats currently held by Stacy Swickhamer, Matt Brooks and Jeff Thompson will be filled by the candidates who file Dec. 18 through Jan. 22.

David Quick reported on a meeting with the Rich Hill School Board. Next year Rich Hill will allow their students to participate in softball and baseball at Hume.

The board heard from State Supervisor Ron Wilkins on the Hume Annual Performance Report. Wilkins stressed to the board that all involved; parents, teachers and students, realize the importance of the Missouri Assessment Program tests and how important it is for students to perform the best they can on the test.

The board accepted the resignations of Becky Loftin, effective June 6, 2008; and Kathy Wood, effective Nov. 2. The board also voted to approve two new hires; Delaina Kellhofer as special education paraprofessional and Shelley Summers for a position in elementary school for the 2008-'09 school year.
