Dr. Philip Marion Jones

Dr. Philip Marion Jones, 90, passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born June 30, 1917, in Sheldon, Mo., to Philip and Della Jones. In 1946, Philip married the former Dorothy Hjelm, of Springfield, Mass.

Dr. Jones was a proud father and grandfather. He demanded excellence from everyone and was very dedicated to the dental profession. He was a pioneer in the field of dentistry and a noted author and speaker. Dr. Jones served in the United States Army Dental Corps from November 1943 to June 1946 attaining the rank of Captain. He served during World War II in the European Theater of Operations.

Survivors include two sons, John D. Jones and his wife Norma Partida, Philip E. Jones and wife Betty; grandson Mathew Jones; numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 12 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon, with local arrangements under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to the University of Missouri, at Kansas City, School of Dentistry.
