Francis "Leroy" Gazaway

Our beloved Francis "Leroy" Gazaway, 65, Nevada, went home to be with his Lord on Dec. 12, 2007, after a lengthy illness. He was born April 14, 1942, in Crawford County, Kan., to Clifford Gazaway and Frances Pearl Portwood Gazaway. He married Cathie Diane Dirr on Feb. 27, 1965, in Garden Grove. Calif., and she survives of the home.

Leroy was a graduate of Bronaugh High School. He served in the United States Navy. Leroy was the President of the Nevada Bowling Association where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in May 2000. He was also an avid deer hunter.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Cathie Gazaway of 43 years; four brothers, Clifford Gazaway and his wife Barbara, Seattle, Wash., Galen Gazaway and his wife Becky, Nevada, Truman Gazaway and his wife Marjorie, Liberal, Mo., and Glen Gazaway and his wife Judy, Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Pat DeMott, Pleasanton, Kan., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bill Gazaway, and one niece, Tina Gazaway.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Friday, Dec. 21, at Ferry Funeral Home. Nevada. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until noon, Friday before the service at the funeral home. Committal will be in Large Cemetery, Garland, Kan.
