Herman W. "Bud" Colvin

Herman W. "Bud" Colvin, 75, Nevada, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, following a lengthy illness. He was born Aug. 21, 1932, in La Harpe, Kan., to Walter Roy Colvin and Neta Alice White Colvin. He married Sylvia June Hopkins, in Nevada, and she survives of Nevada.

Bud grew up in Richards, and graduated from Nevada High School.

He attended Fort Scott Community College, Fort Scott. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956 and was in Anchorage, Alaska, and Arizona, during that time. He spent several years in. Phoenix, Ariz., and returned to Nevada in the mid 1970s. Bud was a self-employed upholsterer. He was a member of the Maranatha Christian Fellowship, in Nevada.

Survivors, in addition to his wife June, include two sons, Gary Colvin, Phoenix, Ariz., and Monty Colvin and his wife Diane, Kansas City, Mo.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.; two sisters, Beulah Easton, Nevada, and Ramona Lofquist, Overland Park, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Pastor Mike Hutchens officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call on Tuesday and until the hour of service on Wednesday and the family receives friends from 5-6 p.m., on Tuesday evening, Jan. 15, at the funeral home.
