Echo's destroyed by weekend fire

Echo's destroyed by weekend fire A smoldering pile of ash and steel is all that remained after a four-alarm blaze brought Echo's lounge to the ground early Sunday morning. At approximately 2:50 a.m., March 2, Nevada fire crews were called to the scene just west of Nevada on U.S. 54 Highway as flames shot from the south side of the building. Deerfield, Milo and Compton Junction fire departments also were called to the site for mutual support. Fire crews fought the blaze for more than seven hours. A report from Nevada Fire Department states that strong winds from the south fueled the fire and are partially responsible for its rapid spread throughout the structure. The fire is currently under investigation by Missouri State Fire Marshal Bruce Thurlo. On Monday, Thurlo said that the extent of damages done to the structure could mean the cause of the fire won't be determined; however, an investigation will continue as he interviews the customers and staff who were last inside the building. The fire occurred after hours; and no injuries have been reported. --Photos by Justin Messner/Daily Mail

if it was such a nice place, how come they lost their license for serving minors? why was liquor control getting so many complaints about the noise and drugs? why was sheriff's office getting so many calls? why was BIG cottey donors thinking about putting it off limits? come on lets get real!!!

There is alot to say about Echos but i will keep it short. The staff was always wonderful people when i was in there. I am almost 30 and i got carded everytime i went there and almost everytime i went back in from using the restroom and im sure im not the only one. People think that Echos was a rough place and alot of fights but i guess you havent been to the other bars in town. If you had been to them you would of thought that Echos was calm and fun. There are alot of memories of Echos that i will never forget. I hope that they rebuild because i think it would do nevada good. Like others have said it had great food and the bar was a place that you could go and have fun and spend time with friends. So i hope before people say bad stuff about Echos that they have spent time there and other bars and realize how rough they are.

Oh Echo's.. the memories.. not being carded, almost getting into a jillion fights, letting mexicans or cowboys eye google me while dancing on the dance floor (I don't even know HOW to dance but they still watched). I danced to Broken Road by Rascal Flatts more than two dozen times with random Nevada boys that the song didn't even apply to. I learned what a Bull Blaster was and how to take a shot of tequila without spitting it out. No but seriously, I learned some great things there. It sounds retarded but it's true. Now I know what not to say to drunks, what not to do with drunks, and how avoid people at WalMart the next day. Don't worry though Nevada, another bar will be built, and you can still watch the Cottey Girls dance alll nighttt long.

Why was the Nevada Fire Dept on scene? It would be hard to believe he paid the $100.00 fee for city fire protection, since this bar was outside the just like his car lot and smoke shop. I think this newspaper needs to do some investigation on this. I would think all of the fine folks who live in the county would like to get the same treatment. Now he should put in a real strip club so all the local Exotic Dancers and Hookers will have a place to make living.

aw yes such a shame about Echo's, won't be able to hear the BOOM-BOOM-BOOM BOOM from their base speaker every Wed. Friday and Sat. the cussing, yelling, fighting, cars honking, spinning around in parking lot, might be able to raise my windows this summer and get some sleep

Yes, very sad to hear that an establishment burnt down in the already economically suffering town we all know and love. Having personally spent many nights and many dollars inside this place, I would have to disagree and say that the staff and management weren't that hospitable to 90% of the customers, of course.. I had to wait until I was 21 to enter since i'm a male but shockingly there were always 16 year old females having a great time. Of course you'll find this in any town. I am going to miss that good ol' dance pole in the corner that was built strong for the stout crowd which was all that participated in the festivities. Ah..the memories..in all reality though..Echos does have so many memories that will never be forgotten..but I believe that lays with the people you spent those times with...not the building..Nevada will keep on rocking like it always has. Unfortunately it will have to be on the other side of town at Amvets or Roadhouse. Does this all not seem contraversial to anyone? One final comment - I along with many others would love to see a classy establishment put here in it's place if anyone reading has the time and money for this sort of investment as well as the guts to risk failure cheers to you!

So sad to hear of Echo's reduced now to only wonderful memories. From a great place to get breakfast and visit with friends after getting off the night shift at Baron, to having the pleasure of getting to know some of the nicest people in this town. The owners and management at this establishment were the best. Thanks so much for the memories and the best times...only echo's.........
