Mary Christine Dodd, 59, of Shelton, Wash., passed away in Olympia, Wash., on Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, while undergoing an emergency heart procedure. She was born July 8, 1948, at Markt Erlbach, Germany, the oldest daughter of Edward C. and Gertrude C. Heitz, longtime residents of El Dorado Springs.
Mary spent much of her early childhood in her native country and attended United States Army public schools at Augsburg, Germany, Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind., Fort Knox, Ky., Charleston, W.V., and graduating from Vicenze, Italy, April 15, 1966. On Nov. 10, 1966, at Olympia, Wash., Mary was married to Lenard Victor Ronlund, by whom she had two sons, John Scott Ronlund and Brian Edward Ronlund. Mary and Lenard Ronlund divorced in 1979, and she married John Dodd, in Eureka, Calif.
Mary was an office and traffic manager at Van Waters and Rogers, at worldwide moving company, at Portland, Ore., for several years and later held a similar position with the Waste Management Company serving the city of Eureka, Calif., retiring with a disability in 2002. She was a resident of Eureka for many years. She belonged to the Eureka Rotary Club and had many good friends in the area. Mary was confirmed in the Lutheran Church, at Fort Knox, Ky., on April 30, 1961, and has maintained her Lutheran faith since.
Mary is survived by her husband John Dodd, of the home; her parents, Edward C. and Gertrude C. Heitz, of El Dorado Springs; her sons, John Scott Ronlund, of Grant's Pass, Ore., and Brian Edward Ronlund, of Eureka, Calif.; one sister Carole Stephens, of Joplin; one brother Dale Edward Heitz and his wife, Terri, of El Dorado Springs; three nephews, Cliff R. Heitz and his wife, Michelle, of El Dorado Springs, Jacob Stephens and his fiancee~, Rhiannon Bartlett, and Jordan Stephens and his wife, Crystal; two great-nephews, Jordan Clay Stephen and Anthony Ray Stephens, both of Joplin; one niece, Ashley R. Heitz, of Stockton; and two daughters-in-law, Tracy Ronlund, of Grant's Pass, Ore., and Dana Ronlund, of Eureka, Calif.
