Juanita Shepherd Bledsoe

Juanita Shepherd Bledsoe, 85, of Nevada, passed away Tuesday night, March 18, 2008, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. She was born Oct. 29, 1922, in Norman, Okla., to Walter Howard Elliot and Julia Marshall Arnold Elliott. She married William Glenn Shepherd on June 8, 1940, and he preceded her in death on May 8, 1978. She then married Richard A. Bledsoe, on Oct. 17, 1979, and he died Sept. 27, 1987.

Juanita graduated from Nevada High School in 1940. She was Center Township Collector for nine years, a member of the First Baptist Church, a charter member of the Gray Ladies with Nevada State Hospital and a member of B.P.W.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Leonard and her husband Willis, of Nevada, Barbara Buckles and her husband Larry, of Walker; two grandsons, Brent Leonard and his wife Julie, Nevada, Brian Leonard and his wife Rhonda, Nevada; three granddaughters, Kim Dade and her husband Tim, of Nevada, Glenda Van Bummel and her husband, of El Dorado Springs, and Kerry Jennings and her husband Darl, of Nevada; 10 great-grandchildren, Lacy Leonard, Brice Leonard and Matthew Leonard, both of Nevada, Laurel, Katelyn and Glen Van Bummel, both of El Dorado Springs, Aaron Dade and Ethan Dade, both of Nevada, and Damon and Dirk Jennings, both of Nevada; one foster daughter, Martha Kintner, of the state of Colorado, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Elliott and Harold Elliott.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 22, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Dr. William Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association of the First Baptist Church, in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
