Mixed results from tennis road trip

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

The frustrating season continued Monday night for Nevada tennis with an 8-1 loss at Carthage.

Taylor Chapman and Ethan Holmes secured the Tigers' only point with an 8-4 win in No. 1 doubles. It was another agonizing loss for Dominic Habjan, who lost in his second straight tie breaker 9-8 (13-15) in No. 3 singles.

Nevada moved on to the Southwest Conference Tournament Tuesday in Joplin at Schifferdecker Park with better results. Taylor Chapman, James Smith and Ethan Chris Claypool placed third in their divisions at No's 1, 2 and 5, respectively. No one else placed for the Tigers.

Nevada's final home match is Thursday against Clinton. The season wraps up 4:30 Tuesday, May 5, at Webb City.
