Registration under way for 2008 McGennis Youth Camp

Applications are now being accepted for the 18th Annual McGennis Youth Camp, which will be held June 19-21 at the McGennis Youth Center, located near Metz.

This camp, sponsored by University of Missouri Extension, area organizations and individuals, is specifically designed for young people between the ages of 8-11 who might not otherwise be able to attend camp for financial or various other reasons.

Applications are available at the University of Missouri Extension Office at the Nevada Courthouse and will be accepted until June 13. Contact the Extension Office at (417) 448-2560, Jennifer Thomas at (417) 667-2159 or Julie Leonard at (417) 667-8716 for information.

The camp is an opportunity for young people to learn about the outdoors, sharing activities, their uniqueness and to have fun. Activities include flag ceremonies, swimming, games, guest speakers, self-exploration, games and evening reflections. McGennis Youth Camp is sponsored solely by organizations and individuals who graciously help fund this activity. Thank you to everyone who has helped in sponsoring campers for the 2008 camp.
