Taylor "Tex" Scotten connected for a two RBI triple in the first inning to give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead which they parlayed into a 9-1 Class AA district championship game win over the Warrensburg AA American Legion team Thursday afternoon at Lyons Stadium. Jim Rayburn, Red Sox manager, said they will play in the first round of the zone tournament on July 17 at 3 p.m., somewhere in the Springfield area. If they win their first round game, they will play again at 5 p.m. on July 18. Should they lose their first round game, they would play at 8 p.m. on July 18. The championship game of the double-elimination tournament is scheduled for July 19. Rayburn said that the winner of that district will host the zone tournament. The Red Sox, with a 26-9 overall record, are undefeated in Class AA play. Their nine losses come at the hands of AAA teams, which are usually made up of older players.
