Officials eradicate two stands of marijuana

Vernon County Sheriff Ron Peckman joined the Missouri State Highway Patrol on an marijuana eradication flight and noticed two patches of marijuana, one southeast of Nevada, just east of Camp Clark and one to the northwest of Nevada. The Vernon County prosecutor has the details of the cases and charges are pending. One of the pot plots appeared to be carefully tended. "The pot from the northwest has been sexed to make better plants," Peckman said. The female marijuana is believed to be more potent than the male plant. --Steve Moyer/Daily Mail

Ah, fer cryin' out loud. When are the feds gonna take off the blinders and legalize, regulate and control the cultivation and marketing of maryjane?

I did not and do not inhale, nor do I imbide alcohol, but having been in the military during the seventies, I've been around quite a few drunks and potheads in my day. I'd rather deal with an idiot who is stoned than an idiot who is drunk.

If you're going to criminalize marijuana, crimilize alcohol while you're at it

Oh my Nevada's finest is hard at work again. How many drunks did you pull over this past weekend checked out the police reports and guess I missed it. Did you get any meth heads or producers, guess I missed seeing that also. Give me a break the general public really isn't stupid why do you keep acting like we are. I am sleeping better what about you.

With all of the meth in this town and the counties around us, this is the big drug bust?? Well I feel safer now knowing that there will be no midnight runs for Twinkies and Mountain Dew after the seize of these two plants... "The pot plots appeared to be carefully tended." Wow, that must have taken all of two minutes to "tend". Please tell me that there is more to this than just these two plants!!

I grew up in the city, plants like this would have been considered "ditch weed" the real pot was being grown in the basement.

Being election time, shouldn't the sheriff's department be trying to bust meth labs instead of pot plants? Meth is way worse than pot. Meth can really mess you up where as pot just makes you hungry.

ok so this is the big drug bust wow wow wow so if this is what they think is going to stop pot from being grew they have another thing coming i say get off the little man and get the big man, there are alot of people that get drunk and drive they kill alot of people every day and do they set in jail hummmm the one that killed my sister was set free and oh what about the rapers and murders oh may let just feed them and give them a place to lay there heads

The only thing peckman will respond to is if it will get his name in the PAPER or NEWS or it CONCERNS one of his friends, I have told him about a person that rides their motorcycle with NO helmet and drinking, NOTHING DONE! He don't even follow STATE LAWS!! Like The Freedom of Information Act or The Missouri Sunshine Law!! IF HE DON"T HAVE TO FOLLOW THE LAW, WHY DON"T HE LEAVE THE POT SMOKERS ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got to admit it, I've never seen anyone commit a violent act while under the influence of pot.

I managed a convenience store once, and the pot smokers were very good for business, sweets,snacks,papers,etc. I never had trouble with any of them....ever.......can't say that about some of the drunks who were customers, and I met quite a few jerks who weren't on anything and exhibited violent tendencies that should be MADE to smoke weed daily!

It is amazing to me to read such criticism from those who do not see first hand how drugs, including marijuana, destroys lives on a daily basis. I do not believe the sheriff's office was proporting this drug seizure as a huge find; however it's nice hearing that state and local agencies are working well together. I, on the other hand, do see how lives are destroyed on a daily basis by drug and alcohol use, abuse and addiction. Normally, I just shake my head at ignorant blogs but not today. I see children neglected and abused until they die, are close to death or so damaged that they will never be all they could have been before the effects of drugs/alcohol usage impacted their lives. I think if you came face to face with any one these children, you would not be able to say to them that marijuana use, abuse and addiction is not a big deal. Even at their age, they could tell different. I watch children throw their lives away using the drugs they get from adults with just such an attitutde. I say BRAVO! sheriff! Those few plants you seized may have spared a few children pain and suffering, even death, for a few days. I just wonder how many bloggers above were smoking weed while they blogged their uninformed criticism!

There is a great guy doing a life sentence in msp now .did he kill someone ? Nope did he hurt anyone ? nope Dwayne Belcher never hurt a fly in his life

Yet your good city sent him to jail for that long for growing pot ...an outrageous amount of time for what is basically a victim less crime

Did anyone hear about the crazed pot-head who killed his family for money just so he could buy a sack? NOPE, you sure didn't. And if someone's going to neglect their children "because" of pot, they were probably going to anyway. Get to the real issues, don't just blame it on a plant. That's just a poor excuse to turn a blind eye to what's really going on around us. To quote a certain radio personality, "Wake up America!!"
